Unfair fares
I’m a Gozitan working in Malta and I recently purchased an ATV (quad bike) in an attempt to reduce my travelling costs to and from work.
When I purchased the ATV, the fare for the ferry was equivalent to that of a motor bike (€4.65) but, last week, I was charged the same as a car (€8.15). When I asked why I was told that ATVs are now classified as cars on the ferry and so are charged the same fare.
My ATV is about a quarter of the weight and size of the average car, so why am I paying the same fare?

I thought quads were licensed as cars? Clearly they take up more room than a bike. Perhaps they should be treated as a motorbike and sidecar?
Do you park at the front like the bikes (where the ferry crew try to use up the odd deck space)? If so yes, indeed that's very unfair. If not...

Could it be because you are Gozitan

Mr. Pisani, your quad bike (I don't know which model because there are various sizes) is smaller than a car, but it is larger than a motorcycle and it takes more space that a motorcycle for sure. I together with many others, question the legality of quad bikes as registered for road use: primarily these are intended either for off road sports or for agrigultural purposes. Can understand your dilemma: what I cannot understand is why I have to pay more than you to go to work in Gozo?

Motorcycles; motorbikes and motorised whhelchairs are all allowed on public roads, why should not quad bikes?
PS: I don't own or intend to get one, but fair is fair.......

Maybe, because you take up as much room as a car on the ferry. Not only the ferry but parking bays and space on the road.
