Lotto Receivers' Union wants assurances
The Lotto Receivers’ Union has filed a judicial protest calling for a meeting with the Finance Minister to discuss his promise that the latest call for tenders for the operation of national lotteries will not affect the conditions of lotto receivers.
In its protest, the union also called on preferred bidder Maltco Lotteries to hold a number of meetings with the union to ensure that the necessary arrangements to safeguard receivers’ conditions of work are in place.
The union noted that the receivers’ only income come from the commission on their sale of Maltco products, which included many more products than those listed in the call for tenders, namely the national lottery, Super 5 and lotto.
The union also called on the Gaming Authority not to grant a licence to Maltco for these three games before an agreement is reached with the union.

Please do not call such things as Gaming. I'm a gamer. I play on the computer while other gamers choose consoles and such.
This is NOT gaming, it's gambling.

This union should also INSIST on Maltco giving clarifications in the way it is operating. For a winning ticket that two weeks ago should have paid 250 euros, the winner was given a meagre 138 eurors - that is almost 50% LESS than the established prize money. The pretext was that there were "many winners". It seems the best way is to go private, illegal and illicit - and win better prizes. The Maltese economy may be in recession but it seems that Maltco is burgeoning forth.
