Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has categorically denied striker Mario Balotelli was racially abused during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Spain in their Euro 2012 Group C clash in Gdansk.

A British newspaper reported that a group of Spanish fans had made monkey noises aimed at Balotelli during the game but when asked about it, Prandelli replied:

"That's absolutely untrue."

Balotelli, who suffered racist abuse on several occasions during his time in Italy with Inter Milan, had said prior to the tournament he would walk off the pitch if he was racially abused.
