Time to stop participating in Eurovision. It's just Political...no longer a just affair. Under the circumstances it's time to stop squandering citizen money. But neither PN nor PL will do that as they put Electoral Interests before National Needs. Shame!

Well done to Kurt Calleja who has certainly assisted Malta in gaining some publicity in the Eurovision Song Contest. whilst it is fantastic that Eurovision and football are being backed, let us not also forget that we have lots of talented individuals in the arts and in sports, who alas, due to lack of funds, find it very difficult to get to top levels, A case in point is Gymnastics . Maltese female Gymnasts this year placed first and second in the island games. In order to get to these levels, parents had to consistently pay large amounts of money over the years to send them to competitions, meets and training camps. It would be great if the government had to assist in nurturing maltese kids who are promising in the sport from a very young age.

Naturally such meetings and encounters are a ridiculous must, clearing indicating to WE THE PEOPLE the true interests of our SERVANTS who should now commence to call us now YOUR LORDSHIPS.

They congratulated the Eurovision team... What about our national football teams, male and female? They both beat Luxembourg in the past days...

I am not a fan of this contest but I do congratulate the singer and the whole team.
At the same time, I get tired of those who must criticise anything, especially in a biased way. Do bear in mind that the group was met and welcomed by the leaders of both political parties. Had they been ignored we would have a litany of complaints just the same.
Some people seem to enjoy life by findinfg faults in, and criticising, others.

Has the Queen met Engelbert Humperdinck? I don't think so. Both parties are out to get political mileage from a non-event. As some others have commented, what people people in other competitive areas, such a sport. Should they not be met by the powers-that-be as well?

'@ Andrew Camilleri
No, the queen did not, but she is the head of state not the head of a political party.
Engelbert Humberdinck had a worse result than the Maltese entrant.
Boris Johnson participated in the Chelsea celebrations.
Need I remind you when a minister was called "zibel" at the airport on a somewhat similar occasion.
My comment was not to recommend that the prime minister and the leader of the opposition' or indeed the head of state, meet all Maltese entrants in international contests, but to express my annoyance that these occasions are used to score political or personal points.
Irrespective of what is done, or not done, some persons have to complain. It seems to make them happy.

Cannot understand why something of this sort has to be taken to such a level. I mean did the German singer have a meeting with Angela Merkel upon his return? No! Or did Mario Monti greet Nina Zilli? I'm sure not! I think were the only ones who create much hype out of nothing.
Why can't we keep everything in context? I have nothing against Kurt, any other singer in particular or the Eurovision festival. Our country participated, made us "proud" when they made it to the finals (we would have been proud even if they didn't), but that's it.

In the photograph I cannot see the "KING" at super one marsa jason micallef with josoph muscat. Of course jason micallef could not face Kurt Calleja and the other boys after all the negative comments he made.
Do we take it that "dear leader" joseph muscat won this move over jason micallef? Overall, who is winning jason or joseph, marsa or hamrun? Any lejburist knows the answer?

I note that in the picture of JM greeting Kurt Calleja the 'pratikament' chairman/CEO of PBS Jason Micallef is nowhere to be seen.
Does JM concur with Micallef's views? We have a right to know.

Disgusting reading your comment , i presume another know-all Englishman, what do you exactly mean by we the Small Minded Maltese. if you are British best to keep your trap shut if you have nothing nice to say top us Maltese, failing that push off much sooner then later. We do not need sarcastic remarks from you, keep your sarcasm for your queen and country.

@ all the moaners.. How sad are you people. You find every single small occasion to pass on a comment "just because you can". What a bunch of sad armchair critics.

When people comment, it shows that at least they have taken an interest and have made the ffort to comment. I would worry about those who have no idea what is going on around them snd consqequently cannot form an opinion. Does expressing an opinion bother you so much?

It is the usual MLP commenters who criticize Kurt and his performance at the Eurovision song contest in Baku; and obviously they do it out of spite because the MLP commenters are not happy in seeing Maltese talent succeeding on the international stage!
This is nothing by GĦIRA BAŻWIJJA!
Well done Kurt and the band, you have made Malta all proud and thanks!

Continue wasting public money on Eurotrash and football, when we have people like this doing Malta proud at one sport that thousands love and have a real talent for.

you know it is difficult to place well in the eurovision contest.
Are you suggesting that an LP government will not take part in the contest? Or else entrust it in the hands of Jason Micallef?

Which bloggers Mr.Zammit? A blogger is someone who owns a blog and updates it regularly. People writing here are commentators not bloggers. Wonder when people here will start using the right term and stop misusing the words "blog" and "blogger"!
