Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) will be showing EURO 2012 matches in High Definition quality on its trial channel TVM HD. A match per day will be aired from Friday up to the final on Sunday 1st July.

PBS recently announced that it would be airing all the matches of Euro 2012 in digital quality via its channels TVM and TVM 2. To broadcast in high definition the company was to incur additional technical costs, so PBS turned to the PAY TV operators for support to deliver a better quality broadcast to the Maltese market

"The broadcast of EURO 2012 in HD is part of our policy to enhance the standards of quality delivered by PBS on all its channels. As it is early in our trials for HD broadcasting we felt that cooperation with local PAY TV operators would be crucial. Following a request to local PAY TV operators, Melita was the only operator to offer to support in funding the High Definition broadcast and will be carrying TVM HD on its network to all customers with an HD-capable decoder" said Anton Attard, Chief Executive Officer of Public Broadcasting Services Ltd.

PBS is currently investing heavily in the quality of its product and infrastructure and aims to be in a position to replicate all TVM broadcasts in High Definition quality in the near future, he added.

TVM HD is currently broadcasting a limited schedule for trial purposes on Melita channel 110 and is available to all Entertainment Pack subscribers with all TV packages.
