Sophia Loren (centre, partly hidden) christened the MSC Divina in Marseilles before it sailed to Malta.

The new flagship MSC Divina entered Valletta’s Grand Harbour last Wednesday, days after being christened by screen legend Sophia Loren in a ritzy Marseille ceremony.

“The most beautiful woman in the world will christen the most beautiful ship in the world. MSC Divina will then enter the most beautiful port in the world, Malta,” said Commandante Giuliano Bossi, captain of the new cruise liner, moments before its official inauguration.

MSC Divina is the 12th ship in MSC Cruises’ ultra-modern fleet. This season it will sail from Venice to the eastern Mediterranean, visiting Bari, Katakolon, Izmir, Istanbul and Dubrovnik.
