Eight new bells have been installed at Għajnsielem parish church, dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto.

The operation was carried out by a group of French engineers and the largest bell, Maria Loreto, was put in place last Sunday.

Archpriest Canon Frankie Bajada recited a prayer, made the sign of the cross on the bell and he struck it several times as it was being hoisted to the applause of parishioners.

The St Joseph Band of Għajnsielem took part.

The bells were cast at the Cornille-Havard foundry in Normandy.
