Professionals in various sectors including the public service, manufacturing, utilities, and project management and construction participated in the launch event of this year’s Malta Lean Programme at The Palace Hotel in Sliema lastmonth.

At the first event, delegates discussed the benefits of implementing lean management principles within operational activities to identify and eliminate process waste. A series of one-day workshops are now planned for the next eight weeks.

Participants will now undertake in-house pilot implementation projects after recognising the effectiveness of lean management in the current recessive environment.

The facilitators, leading local and international engineering consultants, maintain the benefits of lean management can be experienced by all types of organisations when lean and quality management approaches are adopted.

Separate workshops will now address the basic principles of lean manufacturing and lean production planning; lean project management for all industries; lean customer care for high level personnel in the service and hospitality industry; people management through lean approaches, and a final event themed ‘Stupidity, a major obstacle to lean’.
