Nothing could have given Malta’s premier female sprinter Diane Borg a bigger boost to her hopes of representing Malta in the European Championships in Helsinki than establishing a new national record during the last of a series of meetings organised by the MAAA at Marsa yesterday.

Lining up in the 200m race, Borg put up a scorching run that saw her cross the finish line in a new national record of 24.15 seconds, 0.12 faster than her own previous mark set on her way to winning the gold medal in last year’s GSSE in Liechtenstein.
