The Environement and Planning Commission has suspended the proposed development of a Lidl supermarket in Xewkija to be referred to the directorate for further assessment.

This was done because of the need for Retail Impact Assessment which is required for all supermarkets larger than 500sqm.

The application is being opposed by a number of non-governmental environment organisations
