One of Malta’s leading women’s rights advocates has been elected to the top table of the European Women’s Lobby.
Renee Laiviera was elected to the EWL’s executive council during the organisation’s annual general meeting in Budapest.
Ms Laiviera chairs the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations, made up of 14 organisations working on women’s issues. It is the first time that a Maltese NGO is represented on the EWL executive council board.
The confederation has been affiliated with the EWL since 2004. Ms Laiviera was previously part of the EWL observatory on violence against women.
