The highly talented classical guitarist Ulrich Rasche (left) – brought to Malta under the auspices of the German Embassy – will this evening be delighting the audience at the Bir Miftuħ Festival with works by Bach, Weiss and Reusner.
Mr Rasche specialises in baroque music. Until 1995 he lectured at the Music School in Stein and has been an independent music teacher in Ansbach since 1987.
He has given numerous solo concerts in Germany, France, Austria and The Netherlands and has performed with different prominent chamber music ensembles.
He participated in projects involving literature and acting primarily at the State Theatre of the Federal State of Lower Saxony, Hanover. He is the Director of Art at the International Guitar Concerts in Ansbach, Germany.
Mr Rasche also plays the electric and acoustic guitar and has a long time experience in performing with rock, soul and jazz bands. To his credit, he has many co-productions of his own music in co-operation with the Bayrischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting).
This evening’s recital at the mediaeval chapel of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuħ starts at 8 p.m.

Best known for his evocative colour photography, Steve McCurry, in the finest documentary tradition, captures the essence of human struggle and joy. He has searched and found the unforgettable; many of his images have become modern icons.

Ghost Writer
Following the success of the opening performances, DnA Theatre Productions and FM Theatre Productions have extended the run for David Tristram’s Ghost Writer.
Ghost Writer has reunited producers/actors Alan Montanaro and Edward Mercieca on stage once again after a number of years
Joining Mr Montanaro and Mr Mercieca for this comedy thriller are Denise Mulholland, Marika Fenech, Taryn Butler and Stefan Farrugia. The play is directed by Polly March.
Ghost Writer is being staged at St James Cavalier. Performances start at 8 p.m.

Band march in Valletta
The King’s Own Philharmonic Society of Valletta will execute a band march from Republic Street at 8 p.m. on the feast of St Augustine being celebrated in Valletta on Sunday.

Completion of restoration works on Ħamrun dome
The parishioners, the public and the benefactors are invited to an open day to see from close quarters the completed restoration works at St Cajetan parish church before dismantling the scaffolding on which all the works were done.
Ushers will be guiding visitors tomorrow between 9.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on Sunday between 9.45 and 11 a.m.
Those interested are to give their particulars at the parish office. Civil authorities were also invited.
