Bank of Valletta said yesterday that just two months after launching BOV Mobile, subscriptions for this new service have already surpassed the 8,500 mark.

BOV Mobile Banking and BOV Mobile Pay are platforms using the latest technology and security features to give customers the ability to effect banking transactions, anytime, anywhere through their smart phones and to enable real-time person-to-person fund transfers. The former offers the convenience of most of the functions of internet banking via one’s own Apple iPhoneTM and AndroidTM smart phone.

The latter allows the user to immediately transfer money to any registered BoV account-holder.

“We are delighted with the market response to this innovative service launched by the Bank,” said Michael Galea, chief officer operations at Bank of Valletta.

“Indeed, the BOV Mobile app was the number one application on Google Play and on the iTunes App Store following the launch of the product. We are already averaging around 150 transactions per day on these new services, a very encouraging figure considering these services are the first of their kind in Malta.”

“We have also seen person-to-person transactions through BOV Mobile Pay from the very day of the launch,” continued Mr Galea. “Our customers are already getting used to this innovative payment method that is yet another step towards a cash-free society.”

BOV Mobile is available across a wide range of Apple iPhoneTM and AndroidTM smartphones and tablets and can be accessed both locally and abroad using either 3G or WiFi. The BOV Mobile app is available free for download from the Apple App Store and from Google Play (formerly known as the Android Market).
