Two Customs officers were today cleared of theft from a Customs warehouse.

Amabile Grech 43, and Emanuel Atttard 46 were accused of stealing various items, including sports shoes, on May 13, 2001.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke said that although there was CCTV footage showing three people going into the warehouse, choosing items and leaving the warehouse with the  items there was no evidence to show that the people in the CCTV footage included the accused.

It had also not been proved that the items listed as stolen were the items found in the possession of the accused.

The accused were therefore cleared.
