Google continues on its march to conquer the world – first the self-driving cars, and now Project Glass, which is one of the most interesting augmented reality-based projects to date.

The concept behind Google’s smart glasses – which is still a prototype and in development – is not to let technology stand in your way. So if you want to snap a photo, there’s no need to take out your camera or mobile – you just press a button at the top of the glasses and, voila, photo taken. The official promo for Google’s glasses also shows a user setting up meetings, getting directions, finding a book in a store and even holding a video conference.

The glasses, which could be Android-based, come equipped with a camera, a microphone, an internet connection so that you can send and receive data in real time, and a small screen that sits a few inches away from your eyes. The probability is that the glasses will also be enabled for voice-recognition.

It is being reported that Google’s glasses could go on sale by the end of this year.
