The exhibition, entitled ‘Peasant costumes – insights into rural life and society’, was opened by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

The Gozo Youth Band Orchestra gave a performance called ‘Soundtracks Spectacular’, which included dancing numbers by the Moveo Dance Company, under the direction of Joseph Grech. Choreography was by Dorian Mallia.

A concert by the Divine Sinners Band, Spiru Sillato, The Tramps’ Band and Spectrum was held at St George Square in Victoria.

At the newly-inaugurated Villa Rundle gardens in Victoria shows were staged by Gozitan folklore groups. There were also traditional games and re-enactments by schoolchildren.
