Football tournament in aid of Puttinu at the National Stadium
Bodybuilding posedown at Sta Margherita College on June 2
The domestic season in Malta officially wraps up this evening with the final of the U*Bet FA Trophy but the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali will again open its doors to the public tomorrow as the Malta Football Association will be organising a friendly tournament in aid of Puttinu Cares Foundation – the children’s cancer support group.
Starting at 6 p.m., the triangular tournament will feature teams representing the Malta FA and Bank of Valletta employees and a selection composed of sports journalists and Members of Parlia-ment.
The first game will be between the MFA and BOV teams. The losing side from this match play the selection in the second fixture before the third and final game of the tournament.
Players from Premier League teams and officials from the Malta FA and BOV are also expected to join the teams for the Puttinu Cares Cup.
Between games, young players from local football nurseries will figure in a penalty shoot-out with Hibs goalkeeper Mario Muscat and the now-retired Saviour Dar-manin guarding goals.
Entrance is free but spectactors are being encouraged to make a donation at the doors.
The programme for the evening at the National Stadium will also include perfor-mances from local singers.
Meanwhile, a bodybuilding event, also in aid of Puttinu Cares, will take place on the evening of June 2 at the St Margherita College, Cospicua.
Organisers are expecting some 25 bodybuilders to take part in the posedown.
