Webber delivers Red Bull Monaco hat-trick

Australian driver Mark Webber won the Monaco Grand Prix today to give his team Red Bull a third successive win in the race.

The 35-year-old driver - winning his second Monaco Grand Prix in three editions - came in ahead of Germany's Nico Rosberg in a Mercedes while Spain's two-time world champion Fernando Alonso was third in a Ferrari.

Webber - who started from pole after Michael Schumacher was relegated down to sixth place - was the sixth winner in six races this season making it the first time in the sport's history that has happened.

Alonso leads the overall standings on 76 points, just three points ahead of both Red Bull's two-time defending world champion Sebastian Vettel and Webber.

Webber, winning his eighth Grand Prix, controlled the race almost throughout as the local micro-climate delivered its usual capricious weather, moving from sunshine and blue skies to rain.

Webber finished the 78-laps race just six-tenths of a second clear of Rosberg with Alonso a close third.

Vettel - winner here last year - was fourth ahead of Briton Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and Brazilian Felipe Massa, who came home sixth in the second Ferrari.

Briton Paul di Resta came home seventh ahead of his Force India team-mate German Nico Hulkenberg, Finn Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and 10th placed Brazilian Bruno Senna of Williams.
