A 19-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries last night when a car crashed into a house in Mdina Road, near Zebbug.

The incident happened at about 10.15 p.m.

The woman, who is from Qormi, was a passenger in the BMW 316 which was being driven by a 22-year-old man from Zebbug. He was slightly injured.

Rescuers from the Civil Protection Department were on site to help release the two from the wreckage. On site assistance was given by an ambulance team.

Magistrate  A Micallef Trigona is holding an inquiry and the police are investigating.

WOMAN HIT BY CAR ON BIRKIRKARA BYPASS

In a separate incident, a 36-year-old woman from St Paul’s Bay suffered fractures when she was hit by a van on the Birkirkara By-Pass.

The incident happened at about 11.20 p.m. The woman is being treated in hospital, the police said.
