Two foreign divers died yesterday after experiencing problems exploring the sea’s depths in Gozo and Malta.
A 65-year-old Spanish diver encountered difficulties while diving near Wied Iż-Żurrieq, in the limits of Qrendi. The police were informed about the incident at 11.45 a.m.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition and died later.
A 39-year-old Swedish woman died in the afternoon after suffering cardiac arrest while diving in Xatt l-Aħmar, Gozo, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of Malta said.
She was administered first aid by friends and then transferred to the Gozo hospital by helicopter, where she was certified dead.
