I have just returned home after a three-week stay at the Gozo General Hospital, during which time I had to undergo major abdominal surgery.

In my 68 years, I have been treated in hospital on two previous occasions, both times at leading private hospitals in London. The care I received at Gozo General Hospital was second to none. All the staff with whom I had contact, including the consultant surgeon, radiographers, doctors, nurses and nursing aides, were dedicated to just one thing: to get me well again and ensure my comfort and dignity throughout the long process.

I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

Gozo General Hospital is a shining jewel in the crown of our tiny island and deserves all the support we can give.
