The results of the 2012 London International Wine Challenge were announced this week to coincide with this year’s London International Wine and Spirit Fair.

Delicata picked up two other commendations, bringing its total international award count up to an impressive 82.

The commendations were awarded to wines at different ends of Delicata’s large portfolio.

One commendation was for the company’s value-for-money brand Pjazza Regina Rosé.

This particular wine was only released in recent years but has quickly become hugely popular among lovers of rosé wine.

The 2011 vintage Pjazza Regina Rosé IGT Maltese Islands medium dry wine is made from a skilful blend of our unique indigenous red Maltese grape Ġellewża.

It is renowned for producing top quality rosé wines and the fuller bodied, more robust noble Malta- grown red grape variety, Syrah.

At the other end of the price spectrum the second commend-ation went to one of Delicata’s flagship white wines: the 2011 vintage Gran Cavalier Chardonnay DOK Malta.

The Gran Cavalier Chardonnay is the only wine within the company’s portfolio whose grapes are actually fermented in 225-litre French barrels rather than the finished wine being simply matured in the barrels after fermentation has finished.

This results in a wine with more complexity, depth of flavour and alliance between wine and wood.
