St Hubert’s Hunters has called on the public to report any instances of illegal hunting to the police.

Incidents should be treated severely “since such acts jeopardise the credibility of all legal hunters”, the association said.

The statement follows reports of shots being heard after April 30, when the turtle dove and quail hunting season ended.

The open season for the shooting or ferreting of wild rabbit begins on June 1.
