11 Nigerian migrants were early this morning repatriated on a Frontex flight to Lagos. They were escorted by Maltese policemen.

The flight started in Austria and picked up migrants from a number of countries. It was the second repatriation flight operated and financed by Frontex in the past 15 days

The repatriation of the migrants was made possible after the Nigerian consul visited Malta last week and supplied travel documents. The arrangements were made by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Frontex paid for the flight.

This flight brought the number of people repatriated to different countries in Africa in the past two months to 153.

Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici thanked the police for their work in the sector.
