On behalf of the mayor and councillors of Żabbar, I would like to publicly thank the parish priest, Fr Sebastian Caruana, Police Superintendent Carmelo Bartolo and Inspector Robert Said-Sarreo for their help and cooperation towards the success of Lejla fil-Belt Hompesch held on May 12. The success reached far outdid our expectations.

I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the Żabbar organisations and individual citizens who participated in this evening of art, history, culture and entertainment. I wouldn’t like to forget the zeal and help shown by the council staff, especially the executive secretary, Duncan Busuttil.

Well done to all participants both local (from Żabbar) and others as they helped secure success for this cultural activity. My thanks also go to the aditor and staff and the media for the promotion given.

I would also like to thank the Ministry for Home and Parliamentary Affairs and the Malta Tourism Authority, especially Kevin Drake, Martin Morana, Charles Abela and all his staff.

Last but not least, our thanks to the visitors, tourists but most especially the Żabbarians as they came out and enjoyed this feast and helped to show the spirit of unity at Żabbar.
