The Planning and Priorities Coordination Department (PPCD) at the Office of the Prime Minister has issued a pre-announcement of a new call for project proposals to be financed by the European Refugee Fund. The Funds and Programmes Division has been designated as the Responsible Authority for the four funds falling under the General Programme Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows 2007-2013.
This call for project proposals falls under the Annual Programme 2012 and will focus on Priority Axis I: “Implementation of the principles and measures set in the Community Acquis in the field of asylum, including those related to integration objectives”.
The focus areas under Priority Axis I are divided in two:
Action 1: Reception Conditions & Asylum Procedures. This will focus on increasing the capacity and renovation of accommodation facilities, the provision of material aid in centres, the continued provision of medical care and the enhancement of assistance provided to vulnerable persons.
Action 2: Integration. This will focus on the continuous provision of educational services and on the establishment of cultural orientation classes.
It is being estimated that around €1,197.000 will be allocated to this call. All beneficiaries are requested to contribute 25 per cent of the eligible expenditure and any ineligible costs. This fund is targeted at third-country nationals or homeless people who have acquired or have applied for the status of refugee and at individuals seeking subsidiary protection or those who enjoy temporary protection or are being or have been resettled in Malta.
The actual launch of the Call will be announced by the PPCD.
