Ten Israelis have been arrested over the past few weeks on suspicion of trafficking human organs, police said today.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said one of the suspects is a doctor affiliated with a hospital in the Tel Aviv area.

He said the alleged organ-trafficking operation was international, but did not immediately have details about the countries involved.

He said the names of the suspects will not be released before they appear before an Israeli court but did not have a date for the court appearance or any further details.
