White Hart 1
Hotsticks 1
(aet, Hotsticks win 3-2 on pens)

This semi-final surpassed all expectations.

Hotsticks took the lead in the 15th minute through Silas Plaehn. They could have gone further ahead soon after but then the initiative switched to White Hart.

They won seven penalty corners between the 21st and 34th minutes but were not able to transfer their dominance into goals.

The scores were level again on 63 minutes when Karl Tua blasted the ball home to force extra-time.

No other goals were scored and a shoot-out was inevitable.

Both teams scored two of their first five penalties with the lead changing hands. The shoot-out then went into sudden death with White Hart missing theirs and Hotsticks scoring their sixth penalty that sent them into the final.

Umpires: Anthony Tabone and Luke Busuttil Leaver.

Rabat 1
Qormi 3

Rabat took the lead when Shawn Falzon converted a penalty corner after 16 minutes from the start.

Rabat hung on to their lead until the 33rd minute when Jonathan Borg equalised for Qormi.

Both teams could have scored early in the second half but the two keepers kept their goal intact.

In the 50th minute, Steve Tanti shot Qormi ahead. Rabat hit back and won a penalty stroke on 57 minutes but Ramon Chircop’s shot was blocked by James Azzopardi.

Rabat pressed further and won two penalty corners but could not capitalise and in a swift counter attack, Josef Cuschieri scored Qormi’s third goal to seal the victory.

They now face Hotsticks in the final on June 2.

Meanwhile, Qormi travel to Slovenia this week to represent Malta in European Challenge Cup.

Umpires: Manuel Imbroll and Edward Hughes.
