Titles for Hibs junior teams

Teams from the Hibernians basketball nursery again left their mark in the season just ended with championship successes for the U-16 girls and U-14 boys in official competitions organised by the Malta Basketball Association (MBA).

The Hibs girls won all their games in the league thanks also to the sterling contribution of their coach Nathalie Farrugia and her no.2 Winnie Buhagiar.

The U-14 boys, coached by Silvio Cassar and Reuben Baldacchino, had to sweat however to secure their title after beating their direct contenders in a decider that required two extra-time periods to determine a winner.

In a statement, the Hibs nursery said the two titles are a great boost to the club and for the technical staff to continue working hard in this sector while urging the young players to show more com-mitment to secure other successes in future.

Hibs added that the U-16 boys’ team also made it to the final but had to settle for the runners-up spot.

Special mention was made of nursery head coach Anthony Cassar and all members in the Hibs technical staff and committee for the support and dedication showed along the season.
