Seven-time Italian champions Torino regained their place in Serie A yesterday after a three-year absence as a 2-0 win over Modena confirmed their promotion.
Torino – who won their last title in 1976 and have been in the shadow of fellow Turin club Juventus since – were joined by runners-up Pescara.
The top two go up directly while the third to sixth-placed sides battle it out in play-offs for the final promotion place.
Zdenek Zeman’s Pescara needed a victory to achieved their goal and they did it with style, earning a 3-1 result away to the in-form Sampdoria.
Pescara went bankrupt in 2009 and had to start again from the third division but the last time they tasted Serie A football was in season 1992-93.
