The Egyptian ambassador, Abdelmawgoud Elhabashy, hosted a reception at his residence in Kappara on May 7, in honour of the Al Nour Wal Amal Chamber Orchestra.

The orchestra is made up of 45 blind female Egyptian musicians, about 30 of whom gave a highly acclaimed performance at the ManoelTheatre the previous day in aid of the Malta Society for the Blind.

They played a mix of popular classical pieces, Egyptian works and two pieces by Maltese composer Joseph Vella, who was among the audience.
