The Old Motors Club recently celebrated the golden anniversary of the MGB with an event that saw some 90 vehicles (63 MGs and 27 classic cars) taking part at the Gasan Mamo car park in Gzira.
The cars were parked in an orderly manner as per model type and year of manufacture and later left the car park in groups of 10, with the MGBs leading the way for a short run to Mdina and back.
In the meantime the OMC exhibited six rather special MG models across the road from Muscats Motors in Gżira where a commemorative certificate was presented to the participants followed by finger food and drinks. At the same time, thanks to Melita plc, the OMC managed to create a link with an event in the UK. Melita plc also sponsored the printing of thecommemorative stickers, entry forms and attendance certificates.
The idea of the event came from OMC committee member by Charles Sammut, himself an owner of three MGs and a vivid enthusiast of British marques. He is also a member of the UK MG Owners Club.
