3MCar Customisation products have decided to join the fray and have topped up a further €1,500 worth of car wrapping to the €1,000 worth of modifications being offered to the winner of the Source-R/The Sunday Times Motoring competition. The winner will now get a total car makeover worth €2,500.

Launched last month through The Sunday Times Motoring Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Timesofmaltamotoring), more than 100 car enthusiasts have submitted their cars for the competition so far and thousands have already voted for the car they think should win the competition.

The response has been phenomenal and with 3M’s top-up, The Sunday Times Motoring is expecting even more participants. The competition encourages car enthusiasts to e-mail a picture of their unmodified car to motoring@timesofmalta.com together with their details and specifications of their car.

These pictures are uploaded on the Facebook page and the one with the most likes will be declared the winner (conditions apply, see advert below).

You may follow the Sunday Times Motoring Facebook page for more updates on the competition. Voters need to like the photo and the page.

Today most cars roll off the production line looking the part already. Most cars, irrespective of the segment and class, come with colour-coded mirrors and bumpers, tinted glass, alloy wheels and metallic paint as standard. But for every car I see, I imagine what I could do to improve it, given the time and money.

Source-R and 3M are offering their imagination, time and money to modify the winning car in the competition.

Modifying a car, is not just about being unique and different. It is a reflection of one’s personality through the colours one chooses. You may want to raise the suspension to ensure you’re seen, or you may decide to lower it all the way to the floor because you don’t care what people think.

Installing a body kit is another way of making a statement. Having those smooth curves caressing the car, just shows how much you love and care for it.

Whatever your wish, Source-R Autostyling Centre in Mrieħel can accommodate it.

Owner Jason Cini has become a well-known figure in the car modification scene and will develop unlimited modifications to suit all types of cars and motorcycles.

Cini started his trade 14 years ago. He opened his shop in Mrieħel six years ago and has grown to become a leader in car modifications. Source-R Autostyling Centre specialises in the installation and retail of car stereos, alarms, accessories, tinted windows, car wrapping, computer cut stickers, car servicing, alloy wheels and tyres, wheel refurbishments, performance parts and coilovers.

Cini is especially proud of his professional and talented team of modifiers who work round the clock to ensure the best possible service to customers.

Cini’s success mainly lies in the passion he has for the job and in his ability to keep up to date with the latest trends and styles.

Cini’s favourite modification was on an Alfa Romeo 33 which was fully modified six years ago, and a Honda Integra Dc2 which was fully customised and modified into a racing car prototype and was prominently featured in a worldwide leading modifications magazine.

Asked about the local scene, Cini explained that there are many who modify cars as a hobby. He also shares his expertise and offers advice to those wishing to modify their car.

He lists the wheels, tinted windows and the lowering of suspensions as the three main features to start with. 3M is a brand well associated with the automotive industry, offering over 1,000 products from abrasives to car wrapping to paint finishings.
