Student members of the University’s Junior College orchestra recently travelled to Italy as part of a cultural exchange with the Istituto Tecnico ‘Luca Pacioli’ of Crema, Lombardy.

The orchestra gave a vocal and instrumental concert of popular classics at the school.

In Crema, the students visited the Museo Civico, the Liuteria Artistica of Vittorio Formaggia – the renowned violinmaker’s shop. The exchange also included trips to various famous landmarks in Soncino village, Città Alta in Bergamo, and Cremona, where students visited the Museo Stradivariano.

The highlight of the visit was when the students attended a performance Aïda, a four-act opera by Verdi under the musical direction of Omer Meir Wellber at La Scala in Milan.

They also took part in a workshop at La Scala Museum.
