A sculpture exhibition by Melchiorre Cafà in Rome has been extended until the end of May due to its popularity. The exhibition is being held at the prestigious Academy of St Luke, the oldest academy of fine arts in Europe.

The exhibition was opened by President George Abela on March 21. Curated by Sante Guido, Giuseppe Mantella and Fr Edgar Vella, the aim of the exhibition was to give this Roman Baroque artist the attention he is due.

On display are five wax models, discovered and restored in 2009 at the Mdina Cathedral.

Cafà was born in Vittoriosa in 1635 but moved to Rome to learn the art of sculpture.
