The men’s national league came to a close last weekend with La Salle ZT Developments maintaining their im-peccable record following a convincing 25-17 win over Kavallieri RS2.

La Salle secured their fifth champion-ship to add to the Super Cup and MHA Cup they won earlier in the season.

The team, led by coach Ian Psaila, chalked up 11 consecutive wins.

Newcomers James Farrugia and Neville Borg played their part in the team’s success.

La Salle also promoted some youth players to their senior squad, namely, goalkeepers John Scicluna and Craig Muscat, winger Maurice Meli and defender Karl Baldacchino.

In their match against Kavallieri, the new champions had man-of-the-match Mark Gilson and Chris McClean in fine form as the duo hit the target 13 times between them.

Despite their efforts to make a reaction in the second half, Kavallieri failed to halt La Salle’s stride.

The champions will now be looking to extend their positive trend to the knock-out competition where they play Luxol Living Well in the semi-finals.
