Dar tal-Providenza, the residential home for persons with disability, will hold its annual fund-raising Volleyball marathon on the last weekend of June.

Fr Martin Micallef, director of the home in Siggiewi, said the 53-hour marathon will be held on the grounds of the home, starting on June 28.

Its purpose, apart from fund-raising, is to promote voluntary work, sport, and respect for people with disabilities, he said.

Dar tal-Providenza is home for 100 people and needs in excess of €3 million every year.

More than €293,500 were raised in last year's volleyball marathon.

Contributions can be made by calling 51602011 for a €10 donation, 51702012 for a €15 donation and 51802012 for a €25 donation. A donation of €7 can be made by sending a blank SMS to 50618944.

Bank of Valletta is the marathon's main sponsor.
