I was amused by recent letters on animal welfare particularly those concerning shelters for horses much needed to protect these animals from our summer weather.
Amused because as a daily public transport user I cannot but observe the lack of adequate shelters for commuters at the Valletta bus terminus.
I happen to use routes 54 and 55, and as with other route stages in the proximity of the Triton fountain, no shelter whatsoever is provided for the waiting travellers, young and old alike.
The existing so-called “shelters” at the new Arriva bus stages in the form of a platform extending from the various route offices’ ceiling is quasi-adequate for summer weather however, very inefficiently designed to counter winter’s elements.
I just cannot comprehend how such obvious matters escape the managements concerned and why the public is treated so badly.
