Three new appointments were announced by HSBC Bank Malta as it further strengthens its global trade connectivity.

Gordon Scicluna has been named HSBC Malta’s senior international banking manager and head of payments and cash management. Gaetano Sammut takes up a new role as head of trade and receivables finance, while Vincent Borg becomes senior invoice finance manager.

Mr Scicluna has more than 22 years in financial services, occupying several senior management roles within the bank’s personal and commercial banking units. He has previously been a branch manager and led the contact centre.

He was also the project manager during the implementation of HSBC Contact Centre at Swatar which services the UK market. He was most recently responsible for managing the bank’s receivables finance business.

Mr Sammut joined the bank in 1977 and has specialised in trade services, credit management, and credit and risk. In 2009, he was appointed head of trade and supply chain. He is an associate of the Institute of Financial Services, for which he has also previously served as board member as well as secretary, and currently serves on the Maltese-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

A certified banker, financial adviser and underwriting specialist, Mr Borg has worked in various branches before being appointed financial planning manager. He has also been compliance manager for the bank and later joined HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd where he ran the business development, underwriting and claims departments for six years.

In 2011, he was named senior receivables finance manager.
