New equipment worth €1.22 million for use by the police force was launched this morning at Ta' Kandja by Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici.

The equipment includes 22 Ford Focus (2012) models paid for through the police budget. These will replace mobile squad vehicles.

Other vehicles, financed through the external borders fund (80 per cent by the EU and 20 per cent by the government), are:

* 12 Ford Focus saloon (2012)

* 2 panel vans

* 4 Landrovers for the ALE and SAG

* 2 flood lit trucks

All vehicles are equipped with air conditioning and emergency lights.

Two dinghies for inshore patrols against illegal migration, also financed through the EBF, were also launched this morning.
