D’Alessio to join Calleja, Keating
A trio of fabulous performers will light up the Granaries in annual summer concert
Neapolitan crooner Gigi D’ Alessio will join Irish superstar Ronan Keating on stage for Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja’s annual summer concert on the Granaries.
The concert, which will take place on Saturday, July 7, will also include the HSBC Children’s Choir.
Supported by HSBC, Vodafone and Allied Newspapers, the concert has become an annual event in Malta’s cultural calendar, Culture Minister Mario de Marco said yesterday during the launch.
Mr Calleja expressed his eagerness to meet thousands of Maltese music lovers who, year after year, fill the Granaries with their “incredible energy”.
“It’s no secret that my Malta summer concert is the highlight of my season.
“It is an honour for me to perform at home and, of course, the opportunity to spend some time catching up with family and friends is always welcome,” he said.
This year’s concert would once again “offer a fantastic repertoire with a range of well-known arias and popular songs” that would definitely draw in the audience, he added.
Adrian Hillman, executive director of Allied Newspapers, said: “Cultural appreciation and events are subjects very close to our hearts. Our publications help in creating awareness about local talent. It is an honour for Allied Newspapers to support Joseph Calleja in his endeavours to promote classical music beyond the opera circles.”
Pre-sale tickets for the concert will be available to those registered on www.nngpromotions.com. Regular tickets, starting from €35, will be on sale from Monday at 9 a.m. Tickets can also be bought by calling Freephone 8007 4117.
