Il-Kittieb (The Author), the novel penned by Anton Grasso in 1981, is back on bookstores’ shelves in a totally revised cover by Mario Cocker.

Mr Grasso describes this novel as his best work of fiction in the field of witchcraft and satanism.

More than 30 years ago it was a controversial novel because of its sexual descriptions more than because of its satanic theme.

In this new version, the author focused more on the satanic theme.

The novel tells the story of Christopher Doversmith, whose first novel fails to hit the public eye but he is determined to crush the world to reach his fame. He arrives in Rome with his wife Marianne and son Malcolm on the fateful day of the Pope’s death.

Meeting Philip and Katja Denver, he is astonished by their esteem, believing that he will become one of the world’s greatest authors.

Flabbergasted, Marianne believes the couple have a hidden plot. Christopher does reach his fame but to his wife’s horror, she realises that she has lost her husband forever.

What is the dreadful secret that lies within their minds? Why is she having the same dreadful dreams? Why is their son complaining of bad eyesight? What horror lies beneath the author’s fame?
