The union which represents psychologists in government employment said today that industrial action will be taken in health, education and home affairs ministries from tomorrow.
The Malta Union of Professional Psychologists said the dispute was over a stalemate in talks on the revision of the Psychology Class Agreement signed in 1996.
The union said its directives are aimed at hindering the operational side of the work while trying to minimize the impact on clients.
The Directives
Not to answer phone calls or emails, not to carry out supervision with other psychologists, trainees and graduates as well as with other professions - this does not apply for the supervision required by students carrying out their M.Psy or D.Psy training.
The psychologists were also told not to carry out assessments but to limit their contact with clients to psychotherapy, interventions and psycho-educational sessions.
