Here are a few examples of the dangerous potholes and numerous cases of road subsidence in many of our streets and roads.

Some hasty patchwork was recently done on the road subsidence between the traffic lights by the Preluna Hotel in Tower Road, Sliema, but the road has been filled up only at both ends of the subsidence but not in the middle, a width of perhaps three metres.

The Coast Road is a trap for the unwary driver who assumes that one is driving on a good and flawless road until one reaches a particular spot just by a crash barrier where the road has subsided and created a nasty bump.

A drive-through on this road will reveal other similar flaws.

On Tower Road, Sliema, just past the Chalet area, there are at least six spots where there is severe road subsidence. They were recently filled up, but only amateurishly. The gratings covering the culverts on this road have for years been below the level of the surface.

Side streets all over the country (and busy side streets, too) are in a horrendous state and for some reason completely uncared for.

Perhaps this letter will lead to urgent serious remedial action without delay.

If not, at least it has earned me the satisfaction of venting my frustration, an ordinary pensioner blessed with enough time on his hands to speak for many who may be too busy to write to the newspaper.
