The Common Talk may be a new name on the local music scene, but a look behind the bandname reveals a collective mass of experience that spans a large chunk of the musical spectrum.
Fronted by singer Claudia Faniello, the band is the realisation of a long-standing dream on her part to pursue a passion for rock music.
A rock aficionado since childhood, in recent years Faniello has openly displayed an inclination towards rock-lined tunes while maintaining a presence in the local and foreign festival circuit.
The Common Talk however, is much more than the sum of its parts.
Besides Faniello, the band also features guitarist Wayne Camilleri, formerly a member of KOI, Big Band Brothers, Daniel Genuis (ex-Bitterside), and former Eve Ransom drummer Daryl Curmi.
Curmi is the chief instigator behind the formation of this new band, whose debut single Find A Way was released a few weeks back.
A flowing slice of pop sheen and light rock, the song suggests the band may still be testing the waters, but it’s safe to say we’ll be hearing more of The Common Talk very soon.
