Currently the world’s most-played French-language artist, international pop star Anggun has recorded a duet with Claudia Faniello.
The song is Pure, with which Faniello placed second at this year’s Eurovision Malta Song Contest. It was composed by Philip Vella and penned by Gerard James Borg.
France’s representative at the Eurovison Song Contest to be held in Baku later this month, Anggun, has sung with top artists such as Peter Gabriel, Julio Iglesias and Litfiba frontman Piero Pelu’. She was a special guest at the Malta contest last February. It was there that she first heard Faniello perform and was captivated by the emotional ballad and the singer’s interpretation.
Anggun invited Faniello to duet with her on her Eurovision entry Echo, (You And I), further to which she decided to also record Pure as a duet with the Maltese singer.
Despite not clinching the top spot at the festival, Pure succeeded in topping the iTunes Malta chart. The two singers’ voices blend beautifully on this classy rock ballad, leaving a lasting impact on the listener that is also prominent on the duet version of Echo (You And I), the latter an ambitious uptempo song pulsating with rhythm and mixed by David Guetta’s sound engineer Veronica Ferraro. The new version of Pure is on Youtube.
