Two men admitted in court today to having stolen diesel - with one of them being jailed for two years after a previous suspended sentence came into force.

Alan Azzopardi and Stephen Cassar, both 27 from Qormi, admitted to having stolen diesel from a vehicle on Tuesday as well as having handled stolen diesel.

Azzopardi admitted violating the conditions of a suspended sentence, a probation order and other court sentences. He was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment, with eight months of a suspended jail term also becoming effective for a total of two years imprisonment.

Stephen Cassar was placed under probation for two years.
