Half a million revellers flock to Berlin’s Carnival of Cultures street party and parade, which celebrates the German capital’s multicultural spirit with music and dancing in the über-cool Kreuzberg district.

The Carnival of Cultures began as a street parade of musicians, dancers, DJs and artists and has now escalated into a slick extravaganza with a great programme both on- and off-stage.

The streets throng with life as carnival groups from more than 70 countries dance through the most international district of Berlin, a city well-known for its love of alternative nightlife.

Most activities take place around Blücherplatz and the main parade normally runs down Gneisenaustrasse.
