A thousand models assembled by some 70 people with a good eye for detail and a steady hand will be on display at the Scouts headquarters in Floriana until May 6.
The models on show for the 29th edition of the Association of Model Engineers include replicas of racing and civilian cars, aircraft and marine vessels made out of metal, plastic and die cast techniques.
Matchstick, paper and handmade limestone replicas have been set up in the craft section, which boasts a display of 12 airplanes cut out from silver coins.
These tiny two-centimetre long airplanes are the smallest models on display, while the largest one is a three-metre-by-two-metre working UK train layout.
Another train replica is of the Maltese vapur tal-art set up in the engineering section.
Its machine was built from scratch, just like all the other working engineering models on display.
This year, the Association of Model Engineers exhibition is also paying tribute to three anniversaries: 70 years since the George Cross was awarded, 100 years from the sinking of the Titanic and Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee.
The exhibition will be open between today and May 5 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on May 6 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
