A 'mysterious' meeting was held this morning at the Corinthia San Gorg Business Centre involving Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Foreign Minister Tonio Borg, Transport Minister Austin Gatt, MEP David Casa, Justice Minister Chris Said and Malta's permanent representative in Brussels Richard Cachia Caruana.

Edgar Galea Curmi, who heads the Prime Minister's secretariat, was also present.

Asked what the meeting was about and for a reaction to what is happening in Parliament, Dr Gonzi said "today is decdicated to the strategy on digital gaming".

Mr Cachia Caruana, Dr Gatt and Dr Said would not give any comments.

Dr Gonzi spoke to the press soon after giving the keynote speech during the launch of a digital strategy for Malta.

However, according to sources, he had arrived for the 'mysterious' meeting practically at the same time as Dr Gatt at around 8.15 a.m. He left the meeting to deliver the keynote address and returned as soon as his speech was over.

Yesterday evening, the opposition moved two adjournment motions in Parliament calling for immediate debate on an Opposition motion censuring (then) Justice and Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici and another calling for the resignation of Mr Cachia Caruana.

The motions are expected to be backed by Nationalist MP Franco Debono.
